Dr Abdel Kak, a specialist podiatric surgeon, consults at our Shellharbour City clinic one Thursday each month. If a foot or ankle problem hasn’t settled with conservative care, you can talk through your surgical and non-surgical options close to home instead of travelling to Sydney.

About Dr Kak

Dr Kak completed his surgical fellowship with the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons and is registered with AHPRA as a specialist podiatric surgeon. He holds a Master of Podiatric Medicine from Western Sydney University and an endorsement for scheduled medicines from the Podiatry Board of Australia. He also consults in Sydney through Sydney Podiatric Surgery.

What happens at the consultation

Dr Kak will ask about your symptoms and what you have already tried, examine your foot and review any X-rays or scans you bring. He will explain what is causing the problem and the options, including non-surgical care. If he recommends surgery, he will explain what the procedure involves, where it would be done, the risks, the expected recovery and the costs, so you can decide whether it is right for you.

Booking a consultation

Call our Shellharbour City clinic on 02 4012 1644 to book with Dr Kak. You don’t need a referral, but a letter from your GP, podiatrist or physiotherapist and any recent imaging help him prepare. Please ask about consultation fees when you book.

Frequently asked questions about Podiatric surgery

Do I need a referral?

No. Call our Shellharbour City clinic on 02 4012 1644 to book. A referral letter from your GP or podiatrist and any recent X-rays or scans are helpful to bring.

Will I have to have surgery?

No. A consultation gives you a surgical opinion; it doesn’t commit you to an operation. Dr Kak will discuss non-surgical options too, and the decision is yours.

What is a podiatric surgeon?

A podiatric surgeon is a podiatrist who has completed several years of further surgical training and is registered with AHPRA as a specialist in podiatric surgery. Podiatric surgeons treat conditions of the foot and ankle.

Can I keep seeing my usual podiatrist?

Yes. Our podiatrists can continue your general foot care, such as nail care, footwear advice and orthoses, before and after surgery.
