Shockwave therapy
A treatment step for stubborn heel and tendon pain
Shockwave therapy uses short pressure waves, delivered through a handheld applicator, to treat tendon and plantar fascia pain that hasn’t settled with the usual care. It doesn’t involve needles, medication or surgery. We only suggest it after an assessment, and always as part of a plan that also deals with whatever overloaded the tissue in the first place.
Where it fits
Think of treatment as a series of steps. Most heel and tendon pain settles with load changes, strengthening, footwear and taping. If pain has lasted around three months or more despite that, shockwave may be added. If progress is still limited, our Shellharbour City clinic also offers HIRO TT high-intensity laser as another adjunct to rehab.
